Are you or is someone you know thinking about adopting? It can be a very confusing and emotional process. I’ve been helping folks to adopt for the past 14+ years. I work with the best attorneys in town and I am intimately familiar with how adoption works within the legal system and with the Department of Children & Families (DCF). I am qualified to provide home studies for both private adoptions and intervention adoptions on DCF cases. I also provide counseling to folks who are considering placing a child for adoption.
If you have any questions, please feel free to call me at 904-502-1952. I love helping people through the process, whether it’s by completing their home study or just by spending a few minutes talking to them.
On to the tips:
Adoption tip 1:
Make sure you have an approved home study before you contract with an attorney. You can’t be presented to a birth parent for a match without one.
Adoption tip 2:
Consider using an independent licensed home study provider. You can use the home study they provide with any attorney or agency who places children in the state of Florida. Home studies completed by independent, licensed professionals will help you adopt both in Florida and in other states.
Adoption tip 3:
You do not need to become a licensed foster parent to adopt. You can adopt privately, which gives you more control over the process.
Adoption tip 4:
If you’re considering international adoption, familiarize yourself with the Hague laws. You must use a Hague approved adoption agency for your home study.
Adoption tip 5:
Make sure you choose your attorney wisely. Shop around, ask how many adoptions they’ve done, as for references, compare prices and trust your instincts.
Please give me a call if you have any questions. Good luck!
