Jump Off the What-If Cliff
It's so easy to get trapped in anxiety by "What ifs". What if it goes wrong? What if I get fired? What if they leave me? What if it's cancer?
Anxiety paralyzes us. It's like we're being dangled off a cliff with a 10,000 foot drop - if we fall, we'll certainly die. That's a terrible feeling! What-if, or catastrophic thinking, paralyzes to many of us into inaction. When I've challenged by clients to "jump off" the cliff, what they realize is a couple of things - first, what they are afraid of rarely, if ever, actually happens. And, if it does happen, it's not certain death. It's not a 10,000 foot drop - it may be uncomfortable, it may even be really hard - but at the end of it, they will get through it to the other side, often stronger than they were to being with.
This sticker is a funny reminder not to give in to fear, and instead to punch fear in the face and jump off that fear cliff!
